CPU-bound games don’t need more RAM—they need faster single-core throughput. The real issue is when your system runs out of physical memory and starts paging to your SSD. That hammer blows your frame pacing to hell, especially in busy scenes. Going from 8GB to 16GB stops that swapping cold. The improvement shows up as fewer stutters, not higher average FPS.
For memory-bandwidth limited games (think CPU-heavy sims or open-world titles), the amount of RAM matters less than its speed and timings. 16GB at 3200MHz CL16 will help those games more than 32GB at 2666. But if you’re stuck on 8GB, the upgrade to 16GB is essential just to keep the OS and game from fighting.
Don’t expect magic, but do expect smoother minimum frames.
