16GB to 32GB is a real upgrade for Premiere.

Noticeable — especially if you work with 4K or above, multiple tracks, or effects.

Premiere Pro loves RAM. At 16GB, you’re fine for short 1080p timelines with minimal effects. But once you start stacking 4K clips, color grading, or running plugins, 16GB fills up fast. The system starts swapping to disk, which tanks performance — timeline scrubbing gets choppy, exports slow down, and you might see “low memory” warnings.

Going to 32GB gives you breathing room. Smoother scrubbing, fewer freezes, and exports that don’t grind to a halt. You probably won’t see a 2x speed boost, but the experience improves dramatically. The biggest win is consistency — no more hitting a wall in the middle of a session.

If you’re just cutting basic 1080p, 16GB still works. But if your footage or workflow pushes the machine at all, 32GB is one of the smartest upgrades you can make.

Future you will thank you.
