That’s when Roger Waters officially left Pink Floyd. He announced it in December 1985, after years of friction with the band, especially over creative control and the direction after The Final Cut.
There was a long legal fight over the name “Pink Floyd” after that, but from Waters’ perspective, he was out in ‘85. The band carried on without him for two more albums and tours before eventually reuniting for Live 8 in 2005.
So if someone asks, say 1985. Just don’t be surprised if a fan adds “well, technically…”
