2x16GB is better than 4x8GB for most people.

Yes, you probably have enough slots — most consumer boards have four DIMM slots. Check the manual or just look at the board: four slots in two colors (usually gray and black) means you can run either config.

But 2 sticks leaves room to add more later, and it puts less strain on the memory controller. 4 sticks can sometimes force slower speeds or need more voltage to stay stable, especially on lower-end chipsets. Unless you need 64GB right now and can’t afford 2x32GB, go with two sticks.

Look up your motherboard model and check the QVL (qualified vendor list) if you want to be extra safe, but honestly, any decent 3200MHz CL16 kit will work fine in 2x16GB.

Future you will thank you for leaving two slots open.
