2x16GB is the safer bet for stability.
Yes, on consumer platforms like Intel or AMD Ryzen, two sticks are easier on the memory controller than four. Less electrical load, more room for XMP/EXPO to run at rated speeds without crashing.
Four sticks look cooler and fill the slots, but they often force the memory controller to drop speed or timings. You might end up at 3000 MHz instead of 3600 just to keep the system stable. Not worth the visual upgrade.
If you absolutely need 64GB or more down the line, start with 2x16GB and add a second 2x16GB kit later. But that’s a future problem, not a today one.
