3000–4000 ppm is the sweet spot.

Right around 3,200 ppm is ideal for most systems, but anywhere in that 3000–4000 range works.

Saltwater pools aren’t really “saltwater” like the ocean — that’s about 35,000 ppm. You’re just using salt to generate chlorine via the cell. Too low, and the cell works too hard and burns out. Too high, and it can corrode fixtures or just taste salty.

Maintenance is simple: test monthly with strips or a digital meter. Add salt only when needed (pool salt, not table salt — no anti-caking agents). And clean the salt cell every few months if your water is hard. That’s it.

You don’t need to obsess over it, but letting it drop below 2500 ppm will cost you a cell sooner than you think.
