32GB can help, but it's not a cure-all.
Yes, if your stuttering is caused by running out of memory. Open-world games with huge textures (think Cyberpunk 2077 with mods, Star Citizen, or heavily modded Skyrim) can easily eat 16GB, especially at 4K or with high-res packs. When RAM fills up, the system swaps to your SSD or HDD, which is way slower — and that’s exactly what causes those micro-stutters.
But 32GB won’t fix stutters from a weak CPU, poor game optimization, or a GPU that’s choking. It’s a targeted upgrade. If you’re already hitting 15-16GB of RAM usage in a game, adding another 16GB will smooth it out. If you’re sitting at 10-12GB, you probably won’t notice a difference.
Check your task manager while the game is stuttering. If memory usage is pegged near 100%, 32GB is worth it. If it’s under 80%, look elsewhere first (GPU, CPU, or just the game being janky).
