32GB of RAM barely affects your power bill.
No, not in any way you’d notice.
RAM is efficient. Each stick draws maybe 3-5 watts under load, and less than a watt at idle. Jumping from 16GB to 32GB might add 2-4 watts when you’re actually using that extra capacity. For context, a typical laptop CPU pulls 15-25 watts, a desktop CPU can hit 100+. A GPU? Double that. Your RAM is sipping power compared to everything else.
On a laptop, the battery hit is maybe 2-3% in real-world use. On a desktop, you’ll never see a difference on your electric bill. If you’re worried about heat, the difference is negligible too.
If you need 32GB, get it. Power isn’t the reason to hesitate.
