32GB RAM is overkill for that build.
No. 16GB is the sweet spot for a budget gaming rig with an i5-10400 and GTX 1660. You won’t see any real gaming benefit from doubling it.
That CPU and GPU combo is balanced for 1080p gaming at medium-high settings. Most games today still run fine on 16GB — even demanding ones like Cyberpunk or Call of Duty rarely push past 12-14GB. The extra 16GB just sits there doing nothing unless you’re also running a dozen Chrome tabs, Discord, OBS, and a virtual machine at the same time.
If you have the money burning a hole in your pocket, put it toward a better GPU or an SSD. That GTX 1660 will bottleneck way before RAM ever does. Or save it for your next upgrade.
Future you wants a smoother frame rate, not more unused memory.
