32GB RAM is worth it for Cities: Skylines – not so much for Minecraft.
Yes, but only if you’re playing modded Cities: Skylines or Minecraft with a hundred mods. Vanilla Minecraft? 16GB is more than enough. But Cities: Skylines is a different beast.
That game is a memory hog. Once your city hits 100,000 citizens and you’ve got a dozen mods running, 16GB gets eaten fast. Windows starts swapping to disk, and that’s what causes stutter – not your CPU or GPU, just your RAM running out of room. 32GB gives you breathing space. The stutter disappears because the game can actually hold all those assets in memory.
For Minecraft, the story is simpler. Vanilla uses around 1-2GB. Even with shaders and a few mods, 16GB is plenty. Only go to 32GB if you’re running massive modpacks or pre-generating huge worlds. Otherwise, that extra RAM
