32GB RAM won't boost peak FPS, but it will fix the stutters.
Yes, but probably not in the way you’re imagining.
In memory-intensive games like Escape from Tarkov (notorious for eating RAM) or Hogwarts Legacy (busy areas churn through memory), 16GB can hit a wall. When that happens, the system starts swapping to your SSD, which causes micro-stutters, frame drops, and that horrible hitched feeling. Going to 32GB doesn’t magically increase your average FPS – your GPU and CPU still set that ceiling – but it smooths the experience dramatically. The lows become less low, and the game stops freezing when you turn a corner.
If you’re already getting 90 FPS but with occasional dips to 40, 32GB will get you closer to a steady 85. That’s the real win. If you’re GPU bound at 60 FPS with no stuttering, don’t bother.
Future You hates stutters more than Future You loves saving $60.
