32GB RAM works fine with Intel 7th gen.

Yes, but check your motherboard. The CPU itself (Kaby Lake) supports up to 64GB of DDR4, so 32GB is no problem. The real limit is your motherboard—older budget boards might max out at 16GB per slot or only have two slots. If you’ve got four slots, you’re golden. Two 16GB sticks? Also fine as long as the board supports them.

Speed can get tricky, though. 7th gen officially maxes out at DDR4-2400, so faster RAM will just downclock. Don’t waste money on 3200MHz sticks—they’ll run at 2400 on that platform.

One more thing: make sure your BIOS is updated. Some older boards got better RAM support through later firmware updates.

This is one of those upgrades that makes sense if you already have the CPU. Even if you skip the speed premium, that extra RAM will buy you years of snappier multitasking.
