64GB is overkill for 1440p gaming
Yes, 64GB is overkill for a dedicated 1440p gaming PC.
The vast majority of modern games at 1440p use 8–16GB of RAM. Even heavy hitters like Cyberpunk 2077 or Starfield rarely push past 12GB. 32GB is already future-proofing — you’ll be fine for years.
64GB only makes sense if you’re also running a media server, editing 4K video, or spinning up virtual machines while you game. If this is a dedicated gaming machine, you’re just lighting money on fire.
That money is better spent on a faster GPU, a better SSD, or even a nicer monitor. Your gaming experience at 1440p will hit a GPU or CPU bottleneck way before RAM becomes an issue.
Put the cash into something that actually affects frame rates.
