64GB is overkill for most Unreal VR projects.

32GB is the sweet spot for VR development in Unreal Engine. Unless you’re building a massive open world with photogrammetry assets and hundreds of streaming textures, 64GB is money you could spend on a better GPU or faster storage.

Unreal’s memory usage scales with your scene complexity. For a typical VR experience—a few rooms, interactive objects, moderate poly counts—32GB gives you plenty of headroom for the editor, the engine, and your browser full of tutorials. I’ve shipped VR prototypes on 16GB (it was tight, but doable). With 32GB you won’t hit a wall unless you’re doing cinematics with nanite, lumen, and high-resolution textures everywhere.

The places where 64GB actually matters: heavy procedural generation, massive open worlds with full texture streaming, or multi-user editing. If you’re not sure whether you need it, you probably don’t.

Buy the 32GB kit. If you hit a limit later, it’s the easiest upgrade you’ll ever make.
