64GB RAM won't speed up exports.

Not really. Export times in DaVinci Resolve are almost entirely CPU and GPU bound. Adding more RAM beyond what your project needs just sits there idle during encoding.

RAM helps when you’re editing—scrubbing timelines, caching previews, handling 4K or 8K media without stuttering. If you’re maxing out 32GB during heavy timelines (multiple streams of raw video, Fusion effects, lots of nodes), you might see a difference in preview performance or stability. But the export step? The encoder chews through frames using processor cores and GPU, not memory bandwidth.

I’d put that money into a better GPU or faster storage (NVMe drives) before jumping to 64GB. Unless you’re doing 8K, working with massive timelines, or running other memory-hungry apps in the background, 32GB is plenty for exports.

If you’re constantly hitting swap or seeing “system memory low” warnings in Resolve, sure, upgrade. But don’t expect a faster export.
