8GB soldered is a dead end.
Yes. Replace the laptop.
That Ideapad 330 is locked at 8GB with no RAM slots. It’s not a matter of “if” you’ll hit the wall — it’s “when.” Even light multitasking on Windows is painful with 8GB today. Chrome + Slack + a video call and you’re swapping to the SSD constantly.
The Ryzen 5 2500U is also three generations behind. A $500–$600 laptop with 16GB and a newer Ryzen 5 or Intel i5 will feel dramatically faster, not just because of the RAM. You’re not just fixing a memory problem — you’re getting a whole new machine that doesn’t chug.
If you were on a model with a single upgrade slot, I’d say throw in an 8GB stick. But soldered RAM means there’s no path forward here. Don’t waste money or patience trying to work around it.
