A 14-gauge cord probably won't cut it.

No, that cord is too light for the start-up surge.

A 1.5 HP air compressor can pull 25–40 amps for a split second when starting. A 50-foot 14-gauge cord adds about 0.25 ohms round trip. At 40 amps that’s a 10-volt drop — enough to make the motor struggle, overheat, or just refuse to start.

You’ll probably get away with it in mild weather if the compressor is already well-maintained and the circuit is beefy. But if it’s cold, or the compressor is a bit old, or the breaker is weak, you’re gambling.

Get a 12-gauge cord at minimum for that run. Or move the compressor
