Yes, but there aren’t many, and they’re unevenly placed. Most of the obvious signs are at state parks or ferry landings, covering the basics: “This island was called X by the indigenous peoples.” Early tourism gets a mention here and there, but it’s usually a paragraph on a bigger board about settlement history, not a dedicated sign.

If you’re specifically hunting for indigenous placenames, you’ll find more luck at cultural centers or tribal museums than on random trailheads. The parks service is slowly adding better interpretive content, but a lot of the old stuff is still generic “first settlers” fare.

The best stories are still told by locals, not signs.
