A lunch rotation is easier when you theme your days

A lunch box rotation works best when you set a theme for each day instead of planning seven different meals.

Think of themes as guardrails. Monday is grain bowl day, Tuesday is wrap day, Wednesday is leftovers day. Now you only have to answer one question per day: what kind of grain bowl or what kind of wrap. That’s a lot easier than staring at a blank page and trying to invent seven unique lunches.

Keep the component parts simple. Pick two or three proteins, two or three carbs, and two or three vegetables for the week. Mix and match them across your themes. The food changes enough to feel different, but you’re only actually prepping a handful of things. Also, don’t overthink it. Boring is fine sometimes. Add a different sauce or a handful of pickled onions and suddenly it’s not boring anymore.

The goal isn’t gourmet. It’s getting from Monday to Friday without a sad desk salad and without the 11 a.m. panic order.

Future lunch-you will appreciate the system.
