A RAM disk won't wear out soldered RAM any faster.

DRAM — whether soldered or socketed — has basically unlimited write endurance for anything you’d do with a RAM disk. We’re talking about billions of writes before any theoretical degradation. A RAM disk running for years, even aggressively, won’t touch that.

The real difference between soldered and socketed RAM is upgradeability and repairability, not wear rate. If a stick of socketed RAM fails, you swap it. If soldered RAM fails, you’re replacing the whole motherboard or laptop. But that failure won’t be because you used a RAM disk.

So go ahead and use a RAM disk if it helps your workflow. The RAM will outlast your need for it.
