A real Thermos fixes the cold-lunch problem
A real Thermos fixes the cold-lunch problem.
The easiest fix is a decent insulated food jar – a Thermos, basically – that keeps hot food hot for hours.
Most people try to work around it with cold sandwiches or salads, but that’s a losing battle if the person genuinely hates cold food. Instead, just get a Thermos or similar vacuum-insulated food jar. Not the drink kind – the wide-mouth food kind.
The trick is to preheat it: fill it with boiling water for a few minutes, dump it out, then add the hot food. That gives you hours of hot lunches, not just warm-for-20-minutes. Soups, stews, pastas, rice bowls, curries – anything with some sauce works great. Avoid crispy things like fried chicken; they’ll steam and sog.
If you don’t want to go the Thermos route, you can also pack room-temp food that doesn’t need heating: grain bowls, wraps, pasta salad. But if they really hate cold food, the Thermos is the direct answer.
No microwave required.
