A rotomolded cooler keeps ice 2-3 times longer.

Roughly twice as long, sometimes three times. A standard molded cooler might hold ice for 1-2 days in moderate heat; a good rotomolded one can go 3-5 days, and the best ones (Yeti, Pelican, etc.) push 5-7 days if you don’t open it constantly.

The difference comes down to construction. Rotomolded coolers are made in a single piece with thick polyurethane foam insulation injected into a seamless shell. Standard coolers are blow-molded—two thin plastic shells with foam in between that isn’t as thick or well-bonded. The rotomolded also has a heavy rubber gasket and latches that actually seal, which is half the battle.

Yes, they’re expensive. But if you actually need ice to last through a multi-day camping trip or beach day without a store run, the rotomolded is worth it. If you’re just packing lunch for a picnic, save your money.

Future You deserves ice that doesn’t melt by noon.
