Corners collect random stuff because they don’t have a job. That pile of mail, spare change, and “I’ll deal with this later” items needs a designated home. A console table gives the corner a function: place where things land temporarily before they go to their real home. Key move: add a tray or shallow basket on the table. Now the clutter has boundaries instead of spreading across the whole corner.

If you want to hide everything, a small cabinet with doors works better. But for most small living rooms, a table feels open and doesn’t crowd the space. Keep the surface mostly clear — one lamp, one tray, maybe a plant. The tray catches the daily pocket-dump. Everything else goes away.
