A thin layer of oil fixes sticky silicone
The easiest fix for sticky silicone is a very thin layer of oil rubbed inside before you pack.
You’re not greasing a baking pan. Just rub a faint sheen of neutral oil — avocado, canola, even olive — over the inside with your finger or a paper towel. Silicone has a micro-texture that dry food grips onto, and the oil fills that texture so rice, tortillas, and shredded cheese slide right off. Same reason a seasoned pan stops sticking.
Flour or cornstarch works in a pinch, like dusting a tin, but it clumps when food sweats. Oil is cleaner.
Know that some foods are the real problem. Dry starchy stuff sticks to any silicone, no matter what you do. If you’re packing rice or noodles, a little sauce or moisture will do more than any liner.
And one honest note: cheap silicone is naturally tacky. If you’re fighting it every single day, the container might just be low quality. Food-grade platinum-cure silicone is noticeably smoother. You don’t need to throw everything out, but if it’s a $5 off-brand box, that’s your culprit.
If you’re still scraping lunch off the container, the container is the problem, not you.
