The best lunch box for sushi is a rigid bento-style container sized so the pieces fit snugly, with no room to slide around and smash into each other.

Sushi rarely gets destroyed by weight on top. It gets destroyed by movement — rolls sliding across a big Tupperware all morning, ending up as a pile of rice and fish. The fix is simple: put the sushi in something close to its size. A divider helps but isn’t required. Monbento makes nice ones, but a cheap compartmentalized bento box does the same job.

One trick that works: fill any empty space with a folded paper towel or a lettuce leaf. That locks everything in place and soaks up moisture. And the same rule applies to other fragile food — snug beats spacious.
