Abandon the daily streak. Shift work resolutions require a different strategy: stop aiming for daily consistency and switch to a weekly target.

Daily habits are built for people with predictable schedules. If your shifts rotate, your sleep times shift, your energy levels are all over the place, and your “morning routine” might happen at 4 PM. Trying to do the same thing every day will just make you feel like a failure on the days it’s impossible.

Instead, think in weeks. Want to exercise? Aim for three sessions per 7-day period, not one every day. Want to read more? Set a weekly page count. Want to cook at home? Plan for five meals across the week, not one per day. The key is to shift your metric from consistency of timing to consistency of frequency.
