Algae prevention is boring — and that's the point.
Keep your chlorine level steady, run the pump at least 8 hours a day, and brush the walls once a week. Do that, and algae won’t stand a chance.
Algae needs three things to grow: sunlight, nutrients (phosphates, nitrates), and stagnant water. The chlorine kills it, the pump keeps water moving so it can’t settle, and brushing scrapes off any spores before they take hold. A quick test strip every few days tells you if your chlorine or pH is off. If you let the chlorine drop below 1 ppm for more than a day, you’re inviting a green party.
The real trick is consistency, not chemistry. One skipped week of brushing or a pump that runs only 4 hours a day is enough. Shocking the pool once a month is not a substitute for the boring daily habits.
Your pool doesn’t need a magic potion — just a routine you actually follow.
