The eGPU gives you better graphics performance, but it doesn’t change how much system memory you have. Your computer still runs the OS and all your applications using that soldered RAM. If you’re running out of memory, the system will start swapping to the SSD – and that slowdown affects everything, including the data being sent to the eGPU.

Think of it like adding a bigger motor to a car that’s stuck in traffic. The traffic (low RAM) doesn’t go away. The eGPU handles its own video memory, but the CPU and system RAM still have to feed it data. If the system is choking on RAM, the eGPU can only work as fast as that bottleneck allows.

If you need more RAM, get a machine with more RAM. An eGPU is for graphics horsepower, not system memory.
