An old lunch box beats a store-bought kit
An old lunch box is actually the best thing to turn into a first-aid kit or craft organizer because it’s already tough, portable, and designed to hold a bunch of stuff.
Don’t overthink it. Clean it out with soap and water, then the real trick is just grouping small stuff into containers instead of throwing it all in loose. For a first-aid kit, use a few empty mint tins or small pill organizers for bandages, ointments, and meds. For a craft organizer, grab a cheap plastic hardware organizer with little drawers, or even just a set of small mason jars. The lunch box becomes the shell; the containers become the system.
If you want to get fancy, cut a piece of cardboard or felt to fit the bottom, then sew or glue on elastic bands to hold scissors, tweezers, or tubes. That works for both uses and makes it feel like a real kit instead of a bucket. And slap a label on the outside so people know it’s not a lunch box anymore.
The whole point is to repurpose something you already own. Don’t buy extra organizers that cost more than the lunch box is worth. Keep it simple and it’ll actually get used.
Future you will be glad the plasters are in a tin, not lost at the bottom of a tote bag.
