Animals is the album with the first flying pig.
Animals (1977). The pig is flying over Battersea Power Station. It’s the first and only studio album cover with that image—though the pig later reappeared on the live album Pulse.
The pig was a real, 30-foot inflatable. During the photo shoot, it broke loose and flew into Heathrow’s flight path, causing a minor panic. That’s the kind of detail that makes Pink Floyd album covers more interesting than the music for some people.
Worth noting: The Wall doesn’t have a pig. People confuse it because of the floating teacher pig in the movie, but the album cover is just bricks.
