Any bento box beats a "diabetes" lunch box.
The best lunch box for managing diabetes or tracking macros is a plain bento-style container with fixed compartments — and the built-in measuring marks are a gimmick you can ignore.
Fixed compartments do the real work. They force you to portion without thinking: one section for protein, one for veg, one for carbs. That visual split keeps you honest in a way a single bowl never will. The Bentgo or any cheap three-compartment meal prep container works fine. The fancy “portion-control” marketing is just a bento box with a price bump.
Built-in measuring marks sound great but are mostly useless. They’re printed on the side of the whole container, not per compartment, so you still have to do math with a product that’s annoying to wash. If you want accuracy, spend $15 on a digital food scale. Weigh your rice once, learn what a serving looks like, and you won’t need marks on plastic.
One tip: get containers with fixed dividers, not adjustable ones. Adjustable dividers leak and shift. You want boring, stackable, predictable.
And skip the insulated bag with a dozen little pots. You’ll own it for a month and quit.
Future you doesn’t want tuna juice in the strawberries, either.
