Any UPF 50+ rash guard works for surfing.
You don’t need to overthink it.
UPF 50+ blocks 98% of UV rays, which is all you need for a few hours in the water. The key is fit – it should be snug so it doesn’t flap around when you paddle. Loose fabric chafes and lets in sun.
Brands like O’Neill, Rip Curl, Patagonia, or even the cheap Amazon ones with good reviews are all fine if they have that UPF 50+ tag and a tight weave. Don’t pay extra for “surf-specific” features you won’t notice.
Just make sure it fits snug and you’ll be fine.
