Apple will charge you $129–$159.
That’s the price range for an out-of-warranty battery replacement on most MacBook Air models through Apple. It’s a flat fee, so you don’t need to guess.
The exact number depends on which Air you have. The M1, M2, and Intel models all fall in that band. Apple’s battery service page lists the price for your specific model — check it before you book. If you take it to an Apple Store, they’ll usually do it same-day if they have the part. Mail-in is slower but works fine.
Third-party shops might charge $80–$120, but you lose the guarantee that the battery is genuine and installed right. I’d pay the Apple tax unless you’re broke and trust your local repair guy. A bad third-party battery can swell and ruin your laptop.
One gotcha: if your Air is a 2017 or older, Apple might not stock the battery anymore. At that point, sell it and buy a newer model. Not worth chasing parts.
