Ask for the discount every time.
Yes, they exist, but you have to ask.
Most stores, restaurants, and services don’t advertise senior, military, or student discounts. They keep them quiet to avoid making everyone else feel left out. But if you ask—politely, at the register or when booking—many will give you 10–15% off without a fight.
The catch: you need valid ID. Driver’s license with birthdate for seniors, a military ID, or a current student ID. Some places also require you to be active duty or a specific age (like 55+ or 65+ for seniors).
Don’t expect the discount online. It’s almost always in-store only, and you have to mention it before you pay. After you swipe the card, they’re not going to retroactively apply it.
A good habit: just say, “Do you have a senior/military/student discount?” Worst case they say no. Best case you save a few bucks.
Future you will thank you for the extra coffee money.
