Avoid ammonia and alcohol on glass mousepads.
Don’t use any cleaner containing ammonia, alcohol, bleach, or abrasive scrubs. These chemicals etch the glass surface over time, creating micro-scratches that ruin the smooth glide.
A glass mousepad’s whole point is a consistent, low-friction surface. Harsh cleaners strip the protective coating or literally eat into the glass. You won’t see the damage immediately, but after a few cleanings the pad starts feeling rough and “slow.” Once that happens, you can’t fix it.
Stick to a mild dish soap and warm water, or a dedicated glass cleaner that says ammonia-free on the bottle. Microfiber cloth only—no paper towels or sponges with grit. Rinse thoroughly. Two minutes of care saves you buying a new pad in three months.
Your mouse deserves better than chemistry lab leftovers.
