Backwash a DE filter when pressure says so, not on a calendar.

Check your gauge. Backwash when the pressure rises 8–10 psi above clean starting pressure. That’s it. No weekly schedule, no guessing. The filter tells you when it’s dirty.

Procedure is simple: Turn off the pump, roll the valve to backwash, turn pump back on for about two minutes until water runs clear in the sight glass, then shut off again. Move valve to rinse, run pump for 30 seconds. Then back to filter. Done. Add fresh DE through the skimmer after you return to filter.

Don’t over-backwash. You waste DE, waste water, and the filter works better when it has some dirt cake on the grids. Let it ride until the pressure tells you otherwise.

Your pool doesn’t care about a schedule. It cares about physics.
