Backwash your DE filter when the pressure gauge says so, not on a schedule.
Every time the pressure rises 8–10 psi above clean.
That’s it. Heavy summer use just means you check more often. Once a week is probably enough unless you’ve got a ton of leaves or it’s 100°F and the kids are swimming every day. Then check every few days.
Don’t backwash on a calendar schedule. That wastes DE, wastes water, and can actually let junk slip through if you do it too early. Let the gauge tell you.
Final thought: Your filter knows when it’s full—listen to it.
