Bento boxes are the best lunch boxes for reflux and IBS

`

If you have acid reflux or IBS, the best lunch box is one with separate compartments so trigger foods stay apart and portions stay small.

It’s not really about a brand or a fancy material. It’s about the layout. A bento-style box with four or five small sections does two things at once: it forces you to pack smaller portions, and it keeps acidic or spicy stuff from touching bland foods. No more tomato sauce leaking onto your rice or a strong-tasting leftover tainting everything else.

Look for something with removable dividers or individual pods if you want flexibility. A few small containers in one bag also work fine. The key is to skip the giant single-chamber container that invites you to fill it to the brim. Smaller sections mean a smaller meal, and for reflux and IBS, smaller meals are half the battle.

Also, make sure it’s leak-proof and easy to clean. You don’t want chili oil running through the whole box, and you don’t want leftover garlic smell in the plastic. Glass or stainless steel is nice but can be heavy. A good BPA-free plastic bento is practical for most people.

Your stomach will thank you.
