BIOS update for 32GB RAM? Probably not needed.

Not unless you’re on very old hardware or have specific compatibility issues.

Most modern motherboards handle 32GB just fine out of the box — even a single 32GB stick or two 16GB sticks. The BIOS that shipped with the board already supports that capacity. Updating just for capacity is overkill and introduces unnecessary risk (a failed BIOS update bricks your machine).

The only time I’d do it first: if you’re running a first-gen Ryzen or an older Intel platform that had weird RAM quirks. Or if you bought a super cheap motherboard and the manufacturer explicitly says “update BIOS before installing 32GB.” Otherwise, install the RAM, boot up, and see if it works. If it doesn’t POST, then update.

Don’t fix what isn’t broken.
