Bleach first, baking soda second.
Use a diluted bleach solution (1 tablespoon bleach per gallon of water) to wipe down every surface, rinse thoroughly, then leave baking soda inside overnight if any smell lingers.
Soap and water alone will clean visible mess but won’t kill the bacteria that cause odors. Raw meat juice soaks into plastic and rubber seals. Bleach disinfects and stops the stink from setting in. Just make sure you rinse well — bleach residue isn’t great for your next batch of sandwiches.
If there’s still a faint whiff after drying, sprinkle a layer of baking soda inside and close the lid for 12 hours. It absorbs what bleach missed.
