Bleach, water, and sun.

Bleach, water, and sun are the best way to get mold and mildew stains off pool floats that sat around damp.

Mix about one part bleach with three parts water in a spray bottle. Spray the float, scrub it with a soft sponge or brush, and let it sit for five minutes. Then rinse it thoroughly and let it dry in direct sunlight. The sun does double duty: it fades the residual stain and kills any mold the bleach missed.

For really stubborn spots, make a paste with baking soda and a little water and scrub that in before the bleach step. Avoid harsh scrubby pads — they’ll scratch the vinyl and give mold a rougher surface to grab next time.

Work outside and don’t mix bleach with any other cleaner unless you want a face full of chlorine gas. Also, this only works on sealed vinyl or plastic floats, not fabric covers.

Most importantly, dry it completely before you store it. A damp fold in a dark bag
