Block your habits, don't just track them

Blocking your habits on your calendar, then tracking whether you actually did them, is the only way to ensure Q1 goals get daily attention.

Habit tracking alone is a passive log. It tells you what you did yesterday, but it doesn’t force you to make time today. Time blocking without tracking is just a schedule you can ignore. The combination closes the loop: the block reserves the space, the track holds you accountable.

Here’s the practical version: For each Q1 goal, pick one daily habit (15-30 minutes max). Drop it on your calendar at a consistent time. Use a simple tracker – paper, app, whatever – and check it immediately after the block ends. No logging at night. No “I’ll remember later.” You either did it or you didn’t.

The trick is to keep the block short and the tracking immediate. If you overcommit, you skip both. Start with one habit per goal. That’s enough to build momentum.

This is the difference between hoping and planning.
