Bob Klose Was Invited to Play on 'The Endless River' – But Said No

Before Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd was a five-piece with Bob Klose on guitar. Klose left in 1965 because the band was getting too psychedelic for his blues‑rooted tastes, and he went on to become a photographer and architectural lecturer. Decades later, when David Gilmour was assembling material for The Endless River, he reached out to Klose and asked if he wanted to play on the album.

Klose declined. He later told an interviewer that he didn’t feel he had anything meaningful to add after all those years. He wasn’t interested in a nostalgia trip, and he was happy with his quiet life away from music. So the only former member aside from the core four who was formally offered a spot on the record never stepped into the studio. That makes The Endless River the last Pink Floyd album to feature only the classic quartet – plus a host of session players – but not the guy who helped them make their first demo.
