Book the sunset cruise, skip the night one.

Sunset boat tours are usually worth the extra cost. After-dark trips? It depends.

The golden hour light makes everything look gorgeous — the water, the skyline, your partner’s face. Most sunset cruises include a drink or two and a snack, so you’re paying for the vibe as much as the ride. They sell out fast for a reason.

Night cruises can be a letdown unless the city has a truly impressive skyline lit up (think Hong Kong, Chicago, Sydney). Otherwise it’s just dark water and maybe some distant lights. Cold wind, no view, and you’re stuck on a boat for an hour.
