Built-in thermoses are mostly a solution in search of a problem
For hot soup or pasta, the best “lunch box with a built-in thermos” is either the OmieBox for kids or a good insulated food jar you drop into a regular lunch bag.
I get why you want one integrated: fewer pieces, nothing to forget on the counter. But a dedicated insulated food jar does the job better. A Thermos or Zojirushi food jar holds actual food, keeps it hot through lunch, and cleans up without a handful of tiny plastic lids. Most lunch boxes that try to build a thermos in skimp on capacity and are awkward to eat out of.
The exception is if you’re packing for a kid. The OmieBox has a real, removable thermos that slots into the middle of the bento tray, keeps food hot, and the rest of the box holds snacks and sides. It’s pricey, but it’s the one design that actually earns the “built-in” title.
If you want one-unit convenience without the kid lunchbox look, just get a lunch bag with a dedicated bottle pocket and a 16-ounce food jar. That’s the adult version of built-in. You’ll be happier with a thermos that fits your actual meal instead of a lunchbox that fits a thermos.
