Buy monthly, not yearly, in Q1
When buying a premium habit tracker in Q1, start with a monthly subscription to avoid wasting money on a resolution you’ll abandon by February.
Q1 is the super bowl of habit app marketing. Every app is running a “New Year, New You” sale, pushing annual plans with a 30-50% discount. It’s tempting, but most people drop their new habits within three weeks. That annual plan becomes a donation to some developer’s coffee habit.
Monthly gives you an easy exit. If the app doesn’t click — maybe the UI annoys you or the habit logic is too rigid — you’re out twelve bucks instead of sixty. You can also test whether you actually like tracking your habits this way. Some people prefer paper, some prefer bare-bones checklists.
Look for an app with flexible streak rules. Life happens — you get sick, you travel, you have a bad day. Good apps let you pause
