Cast iron on glass: doable, but don't be a hero.

Yes, but only if you lift it—never slide it.

Cast iron’s rough bottom can scratch ceramic glass if you drag it around. But if you pick it up and set it down gently, you’re fine. Everything else is just thermal shock worry—don’t throw a cold pan on a hot burner, and don’t put a screaming-hot pan in the sink. Let it cool gradually.

Does cast iron crack the glass? Extremely rare unless you drop it. The glass is tough, but not invincible. Dropping a heavy skillet from counter height? That’s a gamble. Normal cooking? No problem.

Just treat it like a date—careful movement, no sudden temperature swings.
