Cave of the Winds is not a winter attraction.

Yes, the experience changes significantly, and not in a good way. The famous wooden walkway is often closed or only partially open due to ice buildup. You might get to see the canyon from the viewing platform but miss the actual walk along the cliffs.

Even if it’s open, the walkway can be slick and unpleasant. You’re spending more time watching your feet than looking at the scenery. Plus, the park runs reduced hours and may close entirely on short notice.

Save it for summer or early fall when the full experience is available. Winter is a gamble that usually ends in disappointment.
