Yes, you get significantly wetter on Cave of the Winds. Maid of the Mist is a boat ride that gives you a steady, manageable mist—you’ll come off damp but not dripping. Cave of the Winds puts you on a wooden walkway right at the base of Bridal Veil Falls, and there’s no escaping the full force of the spray. They give you a poncho and sandals, but plan on being drenched from the waist down.

If you want the classic Niagara experience without going home soggy, Maid of the Mist is fine. If you want to feel the falls and don’t mind wringing out your socks, do Cave of the Winds.
