Change your air filter monthly in spring.
Yes, monthly. If you usually go three months, cut that in half during high pollen season.
Spring pollen is brutal. It coats everything outside and gets pulled right into your HVAC system. A clean filter catches more of it before it recirculates through your house. Waiting the full three months means that filter is clogged and bypassing pollen straight into your living room.
If you have allergies, don’t even think about stretching it. Swap it every 30 days from March through May. If you’re not sensitive and the filter still looks clean at 30 days, you can push to 60, but check it. Don’t guess.
Those “washable” filters? Not as effective for fine pollen. Stick with a decent MERV 8 or higher disposable. Cheap filters let more pollen through.
Your lungs will thank you.
